Whats a good paint on truck bed liner brand?

Whats a good brand of paint on bed liner that wont scratch off or peel?

Im going to do it myself so it has to be sold in stores or ebay.Whats a good paint on truck bed liner brand?
UPOL makes a good spray on bed liner called Raptor. It comes in Black or can be tinted to make your vehicles exterior color. The kits that i have used come with an applicator gun and cost about $120. If you want the bed liner tinted then it will cost more.

Hurculiner is also a good product that can be brushed on if you don't have an air compressor. I don't think it can be tinted though. The price is comparable to raptor. Carquest carries Hurculiner.

Depending on what you use the bed for, all paint is going to eventually chip, peel, or rub off. Stick to a black plastic bedliner.

What oil paint brand is your favorite?

just say which one u like im curious which one to buy more ofWhat oil paint brand is your favorite?
Grumbacher and Utrecht are my favorites, but they can't be the student grade. They don't tint or tone or mix how they're supposed to, so I always spend the extra money on professional grade. I do have Winsor Newton paints, but they just aren't my favorite. I have to buy them sometimes though, because the store in town just got rid of Grumbacher and if I'm in a pinch or can't make it across town, I just buy Winsor Newton. What oil paint brand is your favorite?
Utrecht. good value. And its the best art store in Detroit, where I am from.
grumbacher or winton oil colors are the ones that I prefer.
I've tried all the ones mentioned so far but for me, i found Georgian oil paints to be the best. I only buy from one store, Micheals, so i don't know if any other stores carry this brand.

I want to paint my car to look like its a right out the factory. How can I do this ?How do I paint my car to look like it is brand new ?
Take it to a professional paint shop. It's impossible for someone without the correct tools, spray room and drying room to do the job right.

    spray paint
ok first do you know how to paint if not take it to a bodyshop and have them painted for you ask them to show you some of their work to see if you like it
Save your money and take it to a body shop that will show you some of there finished jobs . You need lots of differ ant tools to be able to do this type of work..
buy 300 black permanant marker pens, get the job done in no time.

or pay a couple thousand for re-spray. i was joking above by the way, dont be sketching on your car. lol
find a good bodyshop and have it repainted, expect to pay between $6,000 and $10,000.

When painting interior of a house, should you stick to one brand or line of paint -- or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter. I've used Glidden, Behr, and Sherwin WIlliams paints in different rooms in my home. When painting interior of a house, should you stick to one brand or line of paint -- or does it not matter?
If it is the same room, I'd stick with the same brand. If you are painting many rooms, it would be OK to use different brands in each room. Just don't mix the brands in the same room. When painting interior of a house, should you stick to one brand or line of paint -- or does it not matter?
You would want to stick with the same brand in each room. Not all brands have the same base which makes the colors just a tad bit different.
I try to use a good grade of paint throughout...but I am most interested in getting the absolute shade I want. Some companies are really good at computer matching--if I can find a color I love in my wardrobe, or on a swatch, etc--or a chip in another LINE of paint then I can easily purchase it all in the same brand. I also look for a person who is mixing that is easy to deal with...if I like them I find out their name and schedule. I also keep a little notebook with the rooms written down and the paint ';recipe'; (the code) to mix it up...I always keep some extra, but I keep that recipe JUST IN CASE.....you never know and I have had situations where I needed it!!!!
It really doesn't matter, especially if you are using different colors and painting different rooms. However, I would make sure to use the same or a similar sheen throughout the house. This will provide continuity, although subtle. The shinier your paint, the easier it is to clean. However, the shinier your paint, the more every flaw in your wall is accentuated.

Whic paint brand would you recommend?

i'm on a budget and need to paint a fairly large room. i have narrowed it down to the following brands: dutch boy, sear's easy living, behr, glidden, olympic.

has anyone had any expirience with any of these brands? would you recommend one over the other and why?

serious answers only please. thanks!Whic paint brand would you recommend?
I like both Behr and Olympic simply because they cover so well and do not fade so touch ups blend back into the original paint later so you cannot tell where you touched up. I have orange peel walls, too, so I need a heavy bodied paint. Often you can paint my walls with a thinner paint and come back after it is dried and see little tiny pin holes of the previous color poking back through. Both the Olympic and Behr are heavy bodied enough to give very good coverage on orange peel walls.Whic paint brand would you recommend?
If those are the only brands you are considering, I would use Easy Living. It's cheaper then Behr, but covers as well, if not better. For a few dollars more than Behr, though, you can get Benjamin Moore Super Spec. It's designed for pros, so it doesn't have the fancy label like their Regal line. It covers much better than any of the paints you have listed, and costs about $8 or so more than Behr. Hope this helps.
I would go with the Benjamin Moore Super Spec-- it's their middle of the road line and is the best value for the budget. Spending a little more on paint now will help you avoid redoing it in 6 months!

The also have a great color visualizer--

    http://www.benjaminmoore.com/
Glidden paint, or Behr or Olympic are all good paints...just stick to the mid range price point and you will have a decent paint...I know many are suggesting Benjamin Moore paints, but I do not like them..they are overpriced and some of their lines are awful (experience).

If i want to spray paint my brand new rims do i have to sand them still?

the rims are alloy. If i want to spray paint my brand new rims do i have to sand them still?
yes sand them with fine grit paper to get rid of clear coat. then put primer on it wet sand it with 1000+ sand paper so it baby butt smooth spray good coats of you color then and clear coat if you wantIf i want to spray paint my brand new rims do i have to sand them still?
Um...you should never ';spray paint'; anything wheel related. Wheels should be powder coated only. Why would you do this on new rims?

some paint jobs chip due to bad prep work beforehand even on new cars. in the industry they say that it was done on a monday(usually due to the lack of interest of work people feel on a monday). mercedes and Chrysler are now one corp. so the same shoddy work u tried to avoid by buying a foreign car is now part of Mercedes corp. take it back to the dealer have their auto body man take a look. How long does paint usually last for on a brand new vehicle? no it shouldnt be chipping but it is more than likely from small rocks

When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?

Is there anything harmful or dangerous you would commonly find in a new home? When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?
Yes, many paints and adhesives contain VOCs or volatile organic compounds.

Young children and small animals, especially, may be harmed by being locked indoors with the newly painted surfaces while they are still outgassing.

It might help to open all the windows and place fans in them drawing the gases out of the house. However, sensitive individuals may still have a reaction to these compounds even in small amounts.

    I hope this helps some!

Good luck! When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?
Not really. There was more harm to the painters and builders of the house and they've gone on to the next house.
yes...just open the windows to ventilate.

I am sandin floorboards down and am going to paint them white but dont know which brand paint to use???

it is for bedroom floor for my daughterI am sandin floorboards down and am going to paint them white but dont know which brand paint to use???
any white emulsion will do let it down 50/50 with water and mix well ,apply liberally with a brush and whilst it is still wet use a car cleaning sponge to remove the excess. allow to dry and see if you like the look (is it white enough) if not apply another coat in the same manner . if it is you should ideally use a floor seal to stop the paint from wearing out to quickly , when i have done this effect for customers i use Bona Kemi seals ,if i was doing this for you as a customer i would apply 2 coats of Bona Kemi Spectra

go to www.bona.com for info on the floor seals

all the best any problems email meI am sandin floorboards down and am going to paint them white but dont know which brand paint to use???
go to your local b%26amp;q and they will advise
Behr porch and floor available at Home Depot...
I always use Dulux when I am painting anything - you can't do a good job with cheap paint.
Don't do it, you'll regret it when it goes dirty very quickly. Stain and varnish for a resilient finish, give it an old world look and you will appreciate it more.

Old floor boards that have cracked or have gaps between the planks look terrible, they are cold in winter and if there are cracks the wind will whistle up through them.

    A carpet is warmer.
Do you really have to paint it? If the floor is a quality hardwood, and sanding resurfaces it nicely, why not stain [if needed] and polyurethane, instead? Down the road, as your daughter gets older and her taste changes, or the floor paint gets badly worn, and/or you decide to sell your house---you may wish that you hadn't painted over bare wood--especially with white.

I'd refinish the floor normally, and then add either a low pile, washable white carpeting, or some fun light colored rugs like flokatis.

But if you must paint, then for a child's room, I'd use marine [boat] or porch paint for durability.
Ronseal floor paint, it's not chaep but it's the best. Don't use standard gloss or satinwood it doesn't work, trust me!
Definitly use a floor paint. What I mean is something along the line of porch, dech, floor, etc... Make sure you use a sticky cloth to get all the saw dust up before you prime. Never use a wall paint it will scuff right off. If possible, seal the floor with a clear coat after painting to make it last.
I think you will need to paint with oil based undercoat and then gloss paint for best results, but will get very dirty quickly, and whatever you do, never put carpet on a bedroom floor, especially for kids...matresses, and bedding are havens for dustmites and combined with a carpet, you will have serious allergy problems with your daughter
Tracy, be told, get a white carpet, especially for a young ster. Think splinters, smell, wood needs to breath, paint will clog it up. Do not do it.
when i did my floorboards white i just watered down the emulsion that i was using for the walls and then painted that on really thinly - then varnished it after.
I agree whole heatedly with Cluny Brown. I moved into a house with the master bedroom (oak hardwood ) floor painted red. It took me a long time and lots of work getting it back to the original state. Go with Cluny's recommendation.
The brand doesn't really matter, except:

Usually, the cheaper the paint, the more coats you need.

Also, decide what sort of finish you want first:

    Gloss, eggshell, matt.

Usually, the small print on the tin will tell you the coverage,

so measure your room first and find the area.

green has the most variations of any color. one i like is clearspring green by b moore

    http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l153/a鈥?/a>

to save money and avoid purchasing the wrong color, it's a good idea to invest in large paint chips (18';x18';) .....they are about 4 dollars each but they give you a good sense of color on a larger expanse and you can study and evaluate the color with different lighting at different times during the day including artificial lighting. (if you dont want to spend on chips use a solid towel or solid tablecloth or solid showercurtain or solid fabric or even a Tshirt but the key is a large sample, not a tiny one.) ... feel free to use those free color chips but be aware little chips can easily fool the eye and at worse be costly and aggravating in time and money spent... remember nowadays stores like Lowe's and even some good hardware stores offer color matching with a scanner gun and a paint ';computer';. all you need to do is bring in your SOLID sample (no pattern!) for the clerk to scan. larger is better. you can also invest in white boards and those little ';sample jars'; but i think that method's more expensive than the large chips method.Could someone recommend a specific brand and color name of green paint for the bedroom?
Personal opinion but i think looks amazing is various shades of duck egg. its s lovely shade of green that goes with all whites/creams and woods
I like the shade by Behr paints called rejuvenate. Also Benjamin Moore and Ralph Lauren both have really nice ';woodsy'; shades. I work as an artist and do murals in people's homes and the rejuvenate seems to be a popular color for both the bedroom and the living room. I have this color in my living room and it looks really nice against reds, browns, terracotta, and wines. Its very serene and relaxing.

What is a good brand of oil paint for a beginner?

i was just wondering what brand of oil paint would be best for a beginner. i dont want to just get the cheapest out there but i dont want to spend an arm and a leg.

i want a brand that would give me the best resultsWhat is a good brand of oil paint for a beginner?
I started to paint with Winton oils, from winsor and newton. They are not expensive and are made of good quality pigments and lineseed oil.

Later it is also easier to move to artist grade oils by w%26amp;n, as you will alreday be familiar with some of the colours. There's a great difference, you will notice it immediately. I went by adding first the cheapest colours (earths, black, white) and later I saved to buy the cadmiums and cobalts.

If you do not have a pallete already I would recomend this basic colours:

    Titanium white- opaque

    or Zinc white- semi-transparent

    Ivory black

    raw sienna

    burnt sienna

    raw umber

    burnt umber

    Cadmium yellow

    Cadmium red

    Ultramarine blue

    Extra colors:

    Naples Yellow (nice for blending)

Alizarin Crimson. warms your reds and pinks

Paynes Gray. A very nice colour for shades (it's a bluish gray)

    Sap Green.

    Cadmium yellow lemon

Oh, and if you were already working with acrylics you can add a little Liquin to your oils, so they can dry a bit more quickly.

    Hope that works for you.

    Good luck

C茅sarWhat is a good brand of oil paint for a beginner?
I started with Liquitex, but I really prefer Golden brand paints, both acrylic and oil.

They're very good quality, and not too terribly expensive. (Not cheap, either)
I use the brand Georgian, they come in big tubes and cost about $10 and I like their fluidity and the way they flow.
start with acryllic. its more forgiving.
try windsor %26amp; newton (students) or lb ( lefranc %26amp; bourgois) It will give you freshness and vivid clours
Hi best of luck to you beginning your art! When I got started the teacher gave us a list of what to buy. The local junior college had a bookstore that sold it to us with a discount for being a student...If you are a art student check in your city for stores that might do the same for you. But if not..you can get good paints at Michaels craft store or Joann's fabric shop. When I started out I ordered all my paints from www.danielsmith.com I was not disappointed. They had prices for everyone's wallet. Their own brands Daniel Smiths are great. Oils, acrylics, watercolors all kinds of art supplies call them for one of their catelogs..best of luck ...
Use Winton Oil Colors, the student grade. Don't buy a starter set. Just get red, blue, yellow, black and a large tube of white. You can make any color you want with these colors. This is what I started with and it worked for me. Also starting with only a few colors helps you understand color and what it takes to get color mixing just right. Hobby Lobby is a good place to get paint when it is on sale.
    Use GRUMBACHER.
when i got my first oil paints, i bought Reeves because they are cheap but they are good on quality and you can buy them in a set. I also like Winsor-Newton, but those are a bit more expensive. as far as brushes go, i use the Loew -Cornell white nylon brushes, but that's just preference and probably what's good for acrylics are good for oil...

One best way to remove swril marks is with a high speed buffer. In order to use this you would need experience also you need something rather than just wax. When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?

Is there anything harmful or dangerous you would commonly find in a new home? When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?
The worst fumes I've seen come from certain carpets. Particle board and, to a much lesser extent, plywood also outgas. Formaldehyde is one of the biggies. Fortunately, these problems don't seem to be too bad in new houses, I think mostly because it takes a few months to build them, and they spend some time getting ventilation first. I used to notice fumes really bad in new mobile homes from the factory - they're built in a day or two, then sealed in plastic and shipped out. No new house seems as bad at outgassing to me as new cars are - now there's something that smells toxic. Even that goes away in a few months with the windows and doors being opened.

Now, there are people with chemical sensitivities, and some of them can hardly live in modern homes. Whether the rest of us are bothered by common paints, materials, and adhesives in a lesser way I guess isn't really known yet, but most of us are still here kickin...When you move into a brand new house are the paint, material and adhesive smells harmful to us?
We built a house last year. When we moved in we cleaned painted got new furniture etc. The paint smells are only harm-full if you

sleep in the same room in witch you have painted. The adhesives can get a little nauseating but they wont hurt you. I would suggest to keep the windows open or go outside for some fresh air every once and a while. You should be fine. congratulations on our new house!

http://www.sem.ws/What is the best brand of canned spray primer and paint to use for painting motorcycle forks?
number of coats depends on the color and the color of the primer or fork. if say gray primer and painting black, it will take the least coats. if it is gray primer and painting it red, it will take the most coats for reds are transparent.

now if its a red primer and then going red, it will take less coats but still more than black. this is why I stated 1 can should easily cover the forks, no matter the color, if red, it might take some of a 2nd can.

Plus not seeing the forks, or a picture, no clue how large, how much design, etc is on them that will take paint, angle of painting and then figure in over spray loss. Any info you want, email me.

  • What is the best quality car paint brand?

PPG, Dupont, and 3M. Out of the three I would go with PPG, largest OEM supplier to automobile manufacturers.

Edit: Rollo makes a good point. The Dupont is great but probably the most expensive. If money was no object and I wanted the best, then Dupont it is. But for overall general good paint with great value, the it would be PPG.What is the best quality car paint brand?
In terms of actual quality looking at factors of paint stability, colour fade, and lack of paint distortion, then there is only one: DuPont Standox.

DuPont Standox and the equivalent Spies Hecker refinishing products, are the only products approved by Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, the Volkswagen Group who own VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat, BMW and Honda.

GM and Ford tend to source PPG paints because they're cheaper, but with a reduction in cost also comes a reduction in quality.

The best paint in the world used to be made by ICI Dulux but their range of lead naphthenate paints were effectively banned by EU directives and hence the majority of worldwide sales by about 1992.

I got rubbed into by another vehicle and was able to clean the paint off, leaving a few scratches. i need a good touch up paint so i dont mess it up.What is the best brand of automotive touch up paint?
Duplicolor is the best known, and is in most auto stores...

To select the exact match you'll need your paint code. I would get a small spray can, rather than the little bottles, to get a better result...

I would suggest getting 600 grit sand paper and lightly roughen up around the scratches (dull the paint), clean it good and dry, no dust, then spraying several light coats to even it out. Mask off any thing close with blue painters tape to keep over spray off the pieces you don't want paint on...take your time, and DON'T do it in direct sunlight...shade is much better. That means don't let your car get all hot to the touch...

They are not expensive and you can purchase them at Michaels or online, just search for Artisan paints. You can also go to the Winsor %26amp; Newton website and read up on all the information.

How best to paint a metal screen door. spray paint? What type and brand ?

Brand shouldn't matter as long as it's made for metals. Prep is most important. Make sure door is clean, then scuff the metal with a Scotch-Brite type pad to dull the surface and edges. This will prevent the paint from peeling off in sheets later.

Galvanized metal will have to be ';pickled'; first. Wipe it with a rag soaked in vinegar, and dry with a clean towel. How best to paint a metal screen door. spray paint? What type and brand ?
krylon paint works best made for plastic and metalHow best to paint a metal screen door. spray paint? What type and brand ?
You need to wash it off first. Then use Rustolium Industrial Spray Paint.
    1) Go to your local hardware shop and ask them for spray cans of ';metal'; paint. Choose your colour and purchase. One of our brands is ';Killrust';

    2) If pricey there, some of our $2 shops also sell spray paint cans. Just read the label to see if it is good for metal.

    3) I'd prep the door first by cleaning it with metho or turps to get rid of dirt and grease sothe new paint binds.

Note, ';galvanised'; metal usually requires special prepping and paint as it is naturally ';greasy';. so unless it s dull grey, heavy industrial screen door, this probably isn't the case.

    Hi,

Talens and Winsor and Newton have modified oil colours that are mixed with water based mediums.

    Kind regards,

    Jos茅http://www.myspace.com/hushcolours
There is an ';odorless'; turpentine. My experience is that it is not as good as turpentine nor odorless. The odor is just not as strong. However, I find the ammonia smell of acrylics much more offensive than oils or turpentine.
There are two types of oil paints

    Oil based and water based

the water based is what you need to use wash your brushes out with water but have the same effect and consistancy

you can purchase them from arts suppliers and their are plenty on line aswell

How can I cross reference an interior paint name or code to another brand?

I prefer to buy BEHR paint but have a color I like from ACE. Is there a way to cross reference the colors without having to go to Home Depot to scan the color? How can I cross reference an interior paint name or code to another brand?
If you like using Home Depot range paints, what is the problem about getting them to mix the color,? I am a contractor and have been asked to produce some weird and wonderfull colors sometimes, Home depot are excellent at creating most colors and you know that you can buy with confidence.

As regards to cross reference, you will make hard work of a very easy problem, all stores have their own names of colors and i believe it would be very difficult to call any store with a color reference and say can you make this color for me.

    Is white really white?

Go to Home Depot and purchase their brilliant white ceiling paint, go to a Duron store and purchase their brilliant white ceiling paint, place the two side by side, one will look gray. So which color is actually brilliant white ?

    Good luck

Paul MHow can I cross reference an interior paint name or code to another brand?
Most paint stores have ';recipe'; books for colors in other brands-call them and see.
Just take the color chip you like from Ace and take to Home Depot and have them work on a match of that chip. Then from there you approve of it or tell them it still needs a little work.

    or

Take the chip from Ace to Home Depot and see if there are any colors there that come close. But, in this case you can't be really picky. Cause no color will come just the same as the other. Each paint retailer has different colorants they use.

You have to do the foot work there is no easy way about it. Unless, you hire a painter and then they can do the foot work for you.

Which store do you normally purchase your house paint? Who carries the best brand for the price?

Do normally go to paint specialty stores such as Sherwin Williams? Or do you normally buy it at home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot? Or do you buy it at department stores like Kmart or Walmart?Which store do you normally purchase your house paint? Who carries the best brand for the price?
Home Depot's Behr brand is a wonderful value. It's one of the few that carries an enamel latex in all sheens (including flat), so that your paint is more durable and scrubable without wearing off. It's also got more solids in it than most and is comparable to both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams.

The other consideration is something called VOCs...volatile organic compounds...which are the compounds in the paint that give it that wretched smell. Both Home Depot and Sherwin Williams have ';low-VOC'; paint available. If anyone in your home has asthma, COPD or any kind of sensitivity to the smell of paint, these are really decent paints that don't compromise coverage and durability.Which store do you normally purchase your house paint? Who carries the best brand for the price?
I usually use Behr from Home Depot, which was recently rated the best in Consumer Reports, but I also heard that Benjamin Moore was the best around. Both are pricey, though. .

If you hit it just right, you can often find a decent color of ';oops'; paint--paint that has already been mixed but someone decided they didn't want. HD and Lowe's usually sells these gallons of paint for $5. I have painted several rooms with oops paint.
You truly get what you pay for. Many manufacturer's private label their paint to the chain stores. The store tells the manufacturer what the sell price-point is and they make one for them. The one they make is designed for the price it will sell for and the profit of the vendor... the quality is way down the list of priorities.

It's preference for location to you, and how it worked for you... try them all; once.

I use Benjamin Moore... the lowest level I use is Moore Spec... lasts about 5 years or so. The best one is the Moore Style level... keeps the finish longer with wear etc. The pigments in all paint change within a year due to UV, sun, etc. Don't try to touch up without doing at least the whole wall.
Sherwin Williams, or Wallauer Paint, and usually your local indepent hardware store would be my choice. Don't like Home Depot too much to chose from
I've owned two houses and I have always preferred the Walmart brand ';Color Place';.

It is usally under $12 and does a great job. I once bought an expensive brand from Lowes and it went on the walls like water.
    Home depot behr
I like Porter Paints. A little true narrative: Once I was going to buy paint from the Martha Stewart line at K-Mart.

No one was in that department to mix the paint, so they pulled someone in from the toy department. The color was supposed to be a pretty golden shade, and when the gal mixed it, it was a dark, ugly coral color. Not even close. She apparently didn't know how to make the formula...!!!

So I think not only the brand is important, but the place you buy the paint as well.
From Consumer Reports for interior paint:

';Best overall in all gloss levels; all are

    CR Best Buys:

    Behr low-luster, flat, semigloss $22 to $25

Dutch Boy low-luster, flat, semigloss $14 to $16

Dutch Boy is the least-expensive brand, but in the flat finish it proved less stain-resistant. Many paints faded.

Best chance for covering in one coat; all are CR Best Buys:

    Behr $24 (low-luster)

    Kilz $19 (low-luster)

    Kilz $18 (flat)

All three scored well overall and provided reasonably good hiding with one coat, especially when using a darker color.

    Best for high-traffic areas:

    Behr $24, CR Best Buy

    Kilz $19, CR Best Buy

    Valspar $27

True Value $23, CR Best Buy

Dutch Boy $15, CR Best Buy

These five low-luster paints had high scores for staining and scrubbing, and resisted gloss changes. All faded, however.

    Best for sunny spaces:

Valspar American Tradition satin, flat $22-$24

Benjamin Moore Regal Aquavelvet Eggshell, Regal Matte $37-$42

    Dunn-Edwards $40

    Glidden $40

All resisted fading. Choose the paint based on your desired sheen.

Best for flawed walls; all are CR Best Buys:

    Behr $22

    Kilz $18

    Dutch Boy $14

    Glidden $19

All these offer fine fade resistance in their gloss levels.

    Other good values:

    Sears $24

Ace Royal Touch low-luster, semigloss $23-$24

Olympic Premium low-luster, flat, semigloss $17-$21

    Martha Stewart $20

    Ralph Lauren $23

    Valspar $22';

Seems to me Home Depot's Behr paint is the best overall...
Don't buy the Walmart brand paint - been there, done that, it's awful. Cheap but not good! It comes off whenever you clean something off the walls. This shows that there is a high ratio of water to pigment. However, you can get good paint somewhere like Walmart (or Home Depot etc) - buy the KILZ brand - very high pigmentation and one coat coverage. They say it will even cover black! Good luck.
Lowes. Valspar paint, Voted #1 for years.
i am a painting contractor and we use Benjamin Moore product almost exclusivley...on the rare occasion we use another paint it is Valspars lifetime acrylic.
Sherwin Williams is the store that we use for our 30 year standing paint contracting company.

Excellent coverage is one of the many reasons. Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc have very inexpensive paint, you get what you pay for!

SW's coverage is excellent and long standing. We guarantee our work and I KNOW SW's can back us up on that.

    depends on your own taste

    Home depot brands

Behr - best coverage easy cleanup

Ralph Lauren - Amazing colors, for experienced painters, expensive.

Glidden - Low cost, Lower quality, contractor grade

i was a manager with Home Depot for a number of years and can only attest to there brands. As far as the other brands i have used Benjamin Moore paints great color selection higher end cost but great results.

Your paint job will only come out as good as the time you put into it, prep and good products will make all the difference.Whis is the better brand paint? walmart, lowes or home depot?
Any painter will tell you that It is not the paint but the Prep that makes a good paint job, I would go with a Sherwin Williams if you have on in your area, Either indoor or out you should wash the area and prime the bare spots and be sure it is dry enough before you paint, High humidity means the paint won't last, to low and it won't last either. If you could wait until the rainy season is over then wait, it would mean that much longer and then some before you have to do it again and you won't have to look at a kids paint job for years.
I've tried every paint on the market. For normal painting - ie: walls that won't have lots of handprints/touching, etc., any paint is fine, but for durability - ie: in institutions, or in homes with kids, or on floor surfaces - the 2 absolute best paints are Ace Royal (from Ace Hardware) and Benjamin Moore. And yes - your previous poster is correct - prep, prep, prep - it can't be left undone for a quality and lasting finish.
I assume you did a good prep work so from the choices above I would pick the Behr but has to be the premium grade. It's a big difference while painting it will give you large coverage and it was rated #1 last year. Another company to consider is Benjamin morr. I've used them for years.
    Glidden and Quick Hide

yes, Glidden from Home Depot, cheaper there, same quality.

Behr is over priced, all in the name, rip off and so is Sherwin Williams.

I love Connoisseur synthetic bristles - filbert.

To make any brush last longer:

Don't mash the paint down into the ferrule, keep it up at the tip.

Don't let it sit in turpentine, it dries out the bristle.

    Clean them properly, and

After reshaping the bristle, lay them flat to dry.

    Don't store them on end.
If you want durability... the expensive good brushes also don't last that long. They just perform better while you have them.

I use filament brushes. The brand isn't that important to me. But I do handpick every single one. I must feel if they are right.
    Hi,

I've never tried but I've read good things about Robert Simmons (sp?) and Grand Prix Silver.

want to repaint the living room. Looking for a good paint that covers well and is durable with out killing the pocket book We have a lot of house to paint and just need some ideas. What is a good brand or water based paint for home interior?
I have used many different types of paint, and they all are adequate. Some are better at covering darker colors underneath in fewer coats. I like Behr from HD, my house painter hates it and swears by Benjamin Moore. I buy cheap Color Place paint from WalMart for projects, and haven't had any trouble. More important than the brand, in my opinion, is surface prep. Rustoleum makes a spraypaint for plastic that works well. I just used it to paint a set of plastic outdoor patio chairs a few days ago. You can find it at Home Depot.
One of the two you listed makes a paint especially formulated for plastic. I just can't recall which one. It will say on the can.

What is the brand of paint that is specially made for painting on rusted metal surfaces?

paint question! What is the brand of paint that is specially made for painting on rusted metal surfaces?
Rustoleum as good as it is does not neutralize the rust. Go to the automobile department of Wal Mart and look for RUST Converter. in a black spray can. Converts the rust into a black primer. Wirebrush as much rust off as you can, spray, then paint with Rustoleum for a durable finish. If you do not the rust will come back again.

DaveWhat is the brand of paint that is specially made for painting on rusted metal surfaces?
Rustoleum but I think you'll need to sand the rust off the surface before applying it. It doesn't really remove rust. It just helps to prevent it once you've painted the surface.
Rustoleum. Good stuff. Buy some today. Paint your blues away.

which brand of spary paint should i use to paint my bike?

i left it out in the rain and it got rusty so im gonna sand it down with sand paper ....what brand will last the longest?Which brand of spary paint should i use to paint my bike?
Wash it down, sand it a bit, and then you use any spray on enamel.

Surface preparation is more important than the brand of paint.Which brand of spary paint should i use to paint my bike?
I've had good luck woth krylon and rustoleum - the important thing is, its gonna end up going on much smoother, and looking much better if you put on several light coats...letting it dry completely between coats, than if you only do one or two...
Krylon is a good paint. Don't forget to prime it first. Nice thing about Krylon they have a fan spray nozzle...

  • What is the best brand of paint?

I will be painting everything; ceilings, bathrooms, bedrooms and living room. What are the best brands to use?

What is the best brand of paint?
Behr, rated number one by JD Powers and Consumer Reports. It can only be found at the Home Depot.

And they are having a rebate sale this weekend ($5 a gallon off, and it adds up if you have a lot of painting to do )

    They have a great web-site... Behr.com

(And benjamin moore costs about $40.00 a gallon compared to Behr at $24.00 before rebate)What is the best brand of paint?
To us in South East Asia, ICI paint is the best brand.

I don't know where do you stay? I think different country have their best brand of paint. Paint made are according to the country requirement and test for the temperature, weather and the effect of atmosphere.

One more thing I want to emphasize....Expensive paint doesn't mean the best paint. You must see and judge the quality of the paint by yourself.
I only use Benjamin Moore but I can't imagine there's too much difference between the popular brands.

Here's a link that shows different paint colors by different brands. There are so many gorgeous colors, I'll bet you'll find some you love.

you know i am in the same boat here to i want to find out what and does it matter too what to by? well good luck on the search
i use benjamin moore and it has never let me down , few coats which is awesome . all the top painting contractors here use this brand and there is a reason .
to me Satin finish is the best, as far as brand, I like the brand that Lowes has.
Benjamin Moore is the most quality, hands down.
    people tell me Behr
i used Behr to paint my house and it is perfect to use

    good luck

What's a high-quality brand of home exterior paint?

I was going to go with Sherwin-Williams, but I don't see the shade of navy that I want, so now I'm looking elsewhere. What's a high-quality brand of home exterior paint?
Sherwin Williams is fine paint. As long as you stick to the major brands and buy the best paint that they sell you will be fine. I have been a painter since the 1970's and have used many brands. Every one you ask will tell you something different. Just stick to top quality paint and follow the directions.

As for the color you want. You may be able to get it color matched. If you have a good sample of the color you want it might be something that can be color matched.

To color match a color requires that:

1)The sample be the size of your thumb nail or larger.

    2) The sample must all be one solid color. (no other colors, even tiny specks )

    3) The sample must be opaque. (If light can pass through it then the color match will be incorrect)

    4) Must be a dry sample.

    5) Sample can't be cloth.

I want to paint my lego a different color. What paint does LEGO(brand) use?

That won't work. Lego is coloured before it's shaped. If you paint over it then the connectors won't fit neatly in to each other.

    Buy some new lego.

There was an interesting How It's Made on Lego a while back. You might be able to youtube it.I want to paint my lego a different color. What paint does LEGO(brand) use?
Legos aren't painted, the plastic they are made from is coloured. You could probably use model paint, but it's expensive. Go to a paint store like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore (or their website), they should be able to recommend the appropriate kind of paint. The Krylon Fusion for Plastic庐 looks promising and they have a colour palette for that product. It's on their website.I want to paint my lego a different color. What paint does LEGO(brand) use?
They don't use paint. The color is impregnated in the plastic. If you paint a lego block, the male connectors will be coated and won't fit the female side.
yeah don't paint the lego, it'll ruin it. i think the closest you could do to that is colouring it in texter.
Its illegal to do so cuz of trade marks.
are they painted or is the solid piece of plastic coloured?

What are premium paints -- which brands?

most big paint companies have thier own '; premium'; quality paint.

just dont use cheap paint... if you see the price at $15 per gallon or less... stay away from it.

personally i use sherwin williams promar 200, pittsburgh ultra or dutch boy. behr and benjamin moore are overpriced, but both good paint as well. What are premium paints -- which brands?
One paint I see omitted is Martin Senour--made by Sherwin Wms., but sold by your Ben Moore dealer--at least mine. It's along the line of the ProMar 200-400 that SW sells. It's less expensive than the equivalent in Ben Moore. What are premium paints -- which brands?
Val Spar, Sherwin Williams, by the way, Sherwin Williams makes Walmart paints...I have used both Val Spar and Walmart brand and I have had good luck with the semi gloss Walmart brand paint....I like the Val Spar semi gloss for bathrooms and have also used Walmart semi gloss and satin paints with no problem...
supposedly one of the best (least problematic) interior paints money can buy is the Aura Affinity line by benjamin moore http://www.myaurapaint.com ... i heard you can buy Aura Affinity at Target

their site suggests the color molecules are tighter plus the ingredients are high grade
I love Benjamin Moore paints, and the the DIVA brand. Diva is the most beautifully textured paint to work with; it is like painting with yogurt.... absolutely no drip or splatter. PLUS. when they say one coat coverage, they mean it. One downfall to Diva, is , that while the colors are beautiful and rich, thre are not as many of them as some of the larger companies, and they will not mix a custom color for you. They were designed by an artist, and she refuses to mess with her paint!

What is the best brand of touch up paint for cars, where can i get it, and how much does it cost?

helppp. What is the best brand of touch up paint for cars, where can i get it, and how much does it cost?
Im not sure what the brand is, but if you go to a dealership that sells your make of car they can look it up by the VIN and order you the EXACT color of your car.

The cost varies - I think I paid like 7 or 8 bucks. It's the size of a big fat chap stick and comes out like nail polish.

Safe to paint your nails with also ;)What is the best brand of touch up paint for cars, where can i get it, and how much does it cost?
    ';Dupli-color';

    Any good auto parts store.

$6 for a small spray can.

They go by color codes for a really close match.
How big of a spot are you trying to touch up? Dealers usually carry small touch up paints (similar to nail polish applicator). Autoparts stores will carry them as well as spray cans, though I wouldn't suggest spraying for a novice. DuPont is a good name, but most brands carried but autoparts stores are decent too. Cost will range from $5 to $15.
Your best bet is to go to the dealer for the brand car you want to touch up. Part of the Vehicle Indentification Number (VIN) on the car will identify the exact color/shade you need, and the dealer will very likely have it in stock. A small bottle will cost you probably less than $10.

What is a good brand of RED acrylic paint?

I've used Liquitex and some cheaper ones, and nothing is a good solid Red. It takes me 5 coats to get even sort of an opaque layer. So what's a good brand, so I don't have to use a whole tube for one damn painting? What is a good brand of RED acrylic paint?
Golden makes a good acrylic paint. You definitely want to use professional quality paint rather than cheap student grade or craft grade paint. You will pay more for the professional grade paint, but as you have found out with the cheap paint; it's worth it.What is a good brand of RED acrylic paint?
there is a colorfast rating on each bottle. each type of RED paint is rated for a different opacity. Choose an opaque paint. Make sure you are choosing colors and not hues, too, as these can be of lower quality. Your best bet is to go into a serious art store and talk to the folks who work there about how to read the lables and which brands they trust that they sell.

I don't know what you are painting, but I'm sure you know that there is a huge spectrum of RED paint hues. The chemical components of the different colors can make a difference to their opacity, but quite often it is the medium/ pigment ratio. The shopkeeps should be able to help you understand all that, too.

I have a degree in painting from one of the best schools on earth. I use liquitex paints sometimes with great results.
I use Deco Art Crafter's Acrylic, you can buy it pretty much anywhere for a low price. Although it seems cheap, it works well. I am actually working on a painting in which the girl is wearing a red dress, and I only had to do one coat to get it looking good.

I would also suggest looking for those bigger containers of acrylic, because they can be easy to water down, and you don't need to use much because they are so thick.

    Hope I helped!
Go to art supply shop and ask for the Professional acrylic paint, they will show you and they will tell you the difference of different brands, mind you it is expensive, but you don't have to use the whole tube for one damn painting. Good luck

Can i paint the walls on a brand new property?

I've just bought a newly constructed house and wondered if there is a law against painting the wallsCan i paint the walls on a brand new property?
There is no law to stop you, unless it is peculiar to your house. The reason that people don't paint the walls of new houses is because the plaster dries out, shrinks and this causes cracks to appear. You have to fill these in and then repaint. So it is better to let the cracks appear and just paint the once.

It is not such a problem if the walls are constructed of wall board or plasterboard. Can i paint the walls on a brand new property?
if inside you can do them yes dont now about outside
Absolutely you can, but be aware that the plaster may well shrink and you may have a line towards the top of your walls. This means that you may have to redecorate again.
paint is a traditional medium for binding old plaster together and to stop it coming away from the wall

as thi is a new property this is obviously un neccacary so wall paper is the decoration you should be using
Maybe ask whoever you bought it from, if you're still paying on it. If you owe nothing more on it, I THINK you're free to paint it whatever you want.
As long as you own the house, you should not have any problems painting the walls. I have had several new homes, and never had a problem painting the walls. If you don't own the house, then you better consult with your landlord. If they are willing to let you paint, then do them a courtesy of sending paint chips so they can have the final O.K. I think your builder should have asked you what color you wanted the walls during construction. Typically, they will paint what ever color you want, they use the cheap, flat paint. Of course, you will pay extra for the nice paint. I would take your builder to task for not asking. That is poor customer service. Good luck and congratulations!!!!!!!
Unless there is a clause in the title deeds, you can paint if you want. but in saying that, I would wait at least a year before doing that, because you will have the salt from the sand that was mixed with the cement begin to show as a white frost after a little while. This would ruin your new paint.
Do you mean the inside or outside? If it is your house you can do whatever you want on the inside. Depending on the development they may have rules about the colors that can be used on the outside.
Is it your house? If it is of course you can paint it, why would there be a law against that!
Inside walls are usually recommended by the builder to be left for a year or two. This is for the plaster to settle and dry out properly. If you paint the walls before allowing this to happen, small hairline cracks will form, it will then be a case of filling them and repainting.

Much easier to wait a while!

    Hope this helps.
I'm not an house owner but if you own the property then i don't think there is a law against it unless it could offend.

How much surface area (wall) does a gallon of paint cover? Also recommend which brand is good?

I want to paint my apartment which 900 sq ft...how many cans of 1 gallon paint is needed? How much surface area (wall) does a gallon of paint cover? Also recommend which brand is good?
There are a couple of brands of paint that I like. American Tradition (Lowe's main paint brand) is good. Behr, from Home Depot is pretty good. Porter Paints has pretty good paint. And finally Pittsburgh paint is pretty good. I don't recommend getting a flat paint. Flat paint is cheaper, but it is really worth the extra money to get a Satin finish paint. It should tell you on the can of paint how many square feet it will cover, or ask the person in the paint department when you buy your paint. It also partly depends on the texture of your wall and the color you are trying to paint over. Some colors are harder to paint over than others.

Also remember to get the correct thickness of roller. The more texture your wall has, the thicker of roller you need so it is easier to paint. How much surface area (wall) does a gallon of paint cover? Also recommend which brand is good?
One gallon per room depending on the color. If it's an apartment I'm guessing it's a white or off white color since most managers don't allow color. Be sure to check your lease. If this is the case, three gallons should be fine.
depends on what kind of wall it's covering, the paint currently on it..and the color you plan on painting.

most paints that you get from any hardware store, or even walmart are going to be good enough to get the job done..
This will vary depending on the paint. The area which can be covered will be shown on the side of the can.
Are you going 2 coats? If so thats 1800 sq. ft which means you will need 5 gallons. 400 sq feet a gallon.

Don't buy 2.5 gallons buy 3 if only going 1 coat, cuz qts cost darn near much as a gallon.
All of my painting jobs I all ways use BEHR brand paint. Unless their is a severe color change one coat will do. You will need to look on the can for coverage area, but it don't see it taking more than 3 gal. Don't forget to paint the ceiling first. Good Luck
Most 1 gal paint cans cover 400 sq ft, so you would need about 3. This will depend on if you are having to apply multiple coats. As far as brands go, you get what you pay for. Pay more money, and you will have better paint coverage and longevity.

Well, I can tell you who makes out-of-this world fabric paints and has been for years, decades in fact.....I hope you can mail order it....I am so fortunate to live in the same city as this talented lady.

I have used her paint even on extremely stretchy fabrics and the paint doesn't break apart.....even the artist (Jackie) was amazed at that.

I will include several links below for

    Angel Paints, Vancouver, B.C., Canada

She makes the standard white and black plus fabulous metallic colours in gold and silver etc. The colours are actually nicer than they appear on her website chart.

One of my faves it a lightly metallic called Paw Pink.

  • What is the best brand of interior house paint in your opinion?

give a reason for your choice too please...What is the best brand of interior house paint in your opinion?
The very best is Martin Senour Paints. It goes on smoothly, covers well.

The difference in their oil paint and others is that others oil paints are like painting with water, this is more like painting with whipped cream. It covers so well.

They make about 4 different levels of paint. The very best grade is not always my first choice, the grade of paint called Bright Life is very good. My choice for walls is eggshell finish, it goes on well and looks like velvet once up. It also cleans up well with water.

As I said before I prefer an Alkyd base for trim. I think it is how it holds up in the long run, not the fact it is hard to clean the brushes while putting it on that is the most important factor.

They also have an awesome line of paints called Tough Coat, that are good for inside and outside painting.

The color line is absolutely one of the most diverse I have seen out there. Great selection of colors. What is the best brand of interior house paint in your opinion?
Don't know which country your in but in Australia I would highly recommend Taubmans livingproof which is their premium brand. Heres why, the paint contains Teflon and therefore any dirt / hand marks / crayon / grease etc is not absorbed by the paint and very easy to clean off. Living proof also has a great warranty and is very easy to apply.
I'm curious as to why you want advice about paint if you are a painting contractor.
I like Valspar from Lowe's, and Behr, available at Home Depot. They cover very well and don't dry too fast. Also they have minimal odor. I find Sherwin Williams to be less glossy than indicated - SW's eggshell is really flat. And Sear's paint is pretty thin. I don't care for Benjamin Moore because it gives off terrible odors. I do like Coronodo - like Behr and Valspar it wears well, minimal fading, and low odor.
Kelly-Moore, goes on easy, covers good and lasts forever.

    Paint brand and colour?

    Hello...

I have two very good quality metal coffee and end tables that I would like to re-paint. Currently, they are an antique gold with a black fleck. I would like to spray paint them with a more current colour. I was thinking that pewter might work well. Does anyone know of a good metal spray paint that would work for this project and if so, could they recommend a particular colour in the pewter family.

Thank you all!Paint brand and colour?
I live in Canada and you can go to Canadian TIre or basically any paint store... You can use Corrostop paint, which has a wider range of color choice than the other brand... Don't forget that when you use spray paint, you'll want to prepare the item to be painted...

    1. Wash the item to be painted with liquid TSP. Don't use the powder, as it is much harder to mix and is also toxic, as opposed to the liquid. Also, you won't have to rinse the liquid kind.

    2. Lightly sand the piece of furniture (especially if it's already painted). Wipe off the dust with a soft damp cloth.

    3. For better adherance for your spray paint, I suggest you use an oil-based primer (which you can get in a spray also) I suggest Bull's Eye 1-2-3 or Kilz. Not only will your color spray paint stick better, but the color you choose to paint will be true because it will be on a white background and not antique gold with black flecks... Painting over another color (or 2 in your case) will affect the true color of the new paint... and you may not like the effect!

    4. Once the primer is completely dry, paint with the new color. It is much better to do 3 and even 4 very light coats with the new spray color. If you don't, especially since your table is vertical when you are painting, you may get long yucky drips, which are hard to remove...

Enjoy your new end tables.... and yes, pewter would look good... but so would stainless steel... which is all the rage!Paint brand and colour?
I would check at lowes or home depot for the color But i like to use rustoleum for metal things that i spray

Is there a way to find out what brand and color of paint was used on the walls in my home?

I want to do some touch painting and my landlord has no idea what was used.Is there a way to find out what brand and color of paint was used on the walls in my home?
Take a chip of paint in to home depot. They scan it and might get it close. Good luck!Is there a way to find out what brand and color of paint was used on the walls in my home?
Not really. If you can scrape off a chip and take it to the paint store you can probably match it or get very close. Look at the color chips in the light at the store, then in the light at your home before you have them mix paint for you. The light you are using to compare can make a big difference.
Take a switchplate off the wall and take a chip of the paint from that area. Take it to Home Depot and they can match it. As for brand, I don't think it's possible.
If you can take a sample of the paint from the wall and take it to most diy shops they have a machine which will match the colour for you, Beware though as I have touched up painwork in my house and I have known what paint ive used but due to the amount of time that I last decorated and paint fades and generally gets dirty you can see the touch up areas.
NO there is no thing that can tell you WHAT BRAND ! Just maybe what color is all you can find out! or ask the Landlord if possible. Good luck
find an un noticable corner and chip of about a size of a small coin, and take to a hardware store - they put it in a scanner and mix up the exact colour for you..... clever eh?!
Buy a gallon of a decent latex satin enamel and just repaint the whole thing. It's not a major project, contrary to what our mind wants to think, and it's a lot less work than trying to match little smidges.

    Golden only makes acrylic paints.

The best are the ones you like. There are some very expensive paints with gorgeous ranges and finely ground high quality pigments. Holbein is such a brand. I do large paintings but I use the cheaper paints to get my general painting and then do a top coat of some of the colors with the more expensive paint. There are some wonderful colors like violet grey, shell pink, a very light naples type yellow that are not available in the cheaper paint manufacturers. Don't invest in the expensive paints until you know what you are doing and feel confident painting. The cheap paint is plenty good enough to get you on your way. Good luck! What is the best brand artistic oil paint for oil painting, how much should they cost.?
Williamsburg makes high quality hand mixed paint.

I think its a little pricier than you will want to go for a hobby, but you may want to check it out. Can't hurt, right?
If you're looking for the best artists oils for a good price the brand would be Stevensons. I was stunned when I found out that it out performs Holbein,Grumbacher, and other quality oils for artists. I mean I was really stunned!

I've worked with oils since 1971 and I can't emphasise the surprise on learning this.

The gentleman who made this clear to both my friend and I (my friend is an artist as well) was an international figure in the business of restoration, and artists oils. I wish I could remember his name; but what I do remember was that he performed a blind test through a microscope with a number of brands of artist oils. He did this on stage in front of about three hundred students and alumni and you can bet our derision of this cheap paint was put in its place. With this man's evaluation our respect for the brand

    Stevensons had rocketed upwards.

The brand I use for serious work would be ';Old Holland Classic Oilcolours'; it used to be called ';Sheveneingen';. The company is based in Holland and is over 300 years old. They stone grind their pigments in the best linseed oil,and do not put in any additives. When they mix a batch the paint is then brushed on to a large sheet of paper cut into strips of about 5/8th of an inch wide and wrapped around the hand packed tubes of oils that the mix it came from is in. What you see on this strip is exactly what is inside of the tube. You know exactly what you're getting.Pure pigment and linseed oil in that exact hue. The downside is... they are very expensive.

    Hope this helps you.
Why bother with the higher priced stuff? It won't make for better paintings unless you are really using bad paint. If you are still leanring about painting, don't be concerned about creating mastepieces...worry about getting the color values and drawing correct.
Winsor %26amp; Newton. There is an artist quality and student quality. Student quality is not all that different from the artist. A small tube usually can cost 5-7 dollars and the larger tubes are 15 or so. Its usually better to buy larger tubes of black and white or a color that you might need a lot of. You also might want to try the water soluble oil colors. You can mix them with water so you save money on liquin.

Sherwin Williams has a product called ';Duration Home.'; It's formula prevents stains from penetrating, and most stains wipe clean with water or soap %26amp; water. I suggest a semi-gloss sheen. I used it in my kitchen %26amp; I 'm quite happy with it:

It also has low odor %26amp; it prevents mold. What would be a good brand and type of paint for a kids room?
    Disney??

I assume it would be a good choice.

It was created with kids in mind.

    I'm not an expert though.

You should go to your Home Depot or Lowe's and ask an employee there.

That's what they're there for! To help you out!

    :]

    Good luck!
Any quality paint brand is fine, but because it is going to be in a child's room I would recommend using semi-gloss paint. It is easy to wipe up and clean up mishaps that happen.

  • What brands of oil based paints are best for blending?

I need to do a mixed media piece, and I've never worked with oil based paints before, so I could really use a second opinion. Thanks! What brands of oil based paints are best for blending?
Good blending depends a lot on your medium - the more medium (linseed oil, Liquin or Galkyd fast-drying mediums, Wingel, etc) the easier the paint is to blend. Keep in mind that adding linseed oil will make the paint dry much more slowly - good for blending but not so good if you're in a hurry.

Good quality paints, like the first answerer said, are generally smoother and use better pigments. Use the best you can afford. Soft brushes - either synthestic or pure sable - are best for blending - stiff bristle brushes won't work as well.

Please also keep in mind if you're mixing media, use the oil paint last because it dries the slowest - with the exception of oil pastels which actually never dry.

Have fun! What brands of oil based paints are best for blending?
The paints I love are Georgian, they come in small and large tubes, they are smooth and fluidy. Also the pigment saturation is very good and the price is fantastic.

I don't think that you will have any problem blending if you use oil paints of any brand. Oil paints dry a long time so they are the best for blending and mixing.
The pricing of oil paints is largely based on the the pigment load. So a brand like Old Holland or Holbein has a high pigment load and will mix or blend very true colors. Brands like Winton, which are beginning brands are loaded with alot of fillers which make blending or mixing the colors not so true. A good example of this is when you mix complementary colors. With the high pigment load you will get a rich brown, with the lesser browns you'll get a muddy impure color.

A good student compromise is the grumbacher line, which is better than Winton, but not as good, or expensice as Holbein or Old holland.

Permalba is a good white for blending and I've found Resin gel makes a nice mixing or blending vehicle.

What brand of Exterior latex paint are the best for home?

I'm painting the exterior of my house and am wondering which is the best exterior acrylic latex paint available for wood siding on a house. I'm looking into the new BEHR nano-guard acrylic latex exterior paint but also heard that Benjamin Moore was pretty good as well. BEHR offers lifetime warrenty and Benjamin Moore offers similar warrenty eventhough no paint last more than a few years, does that means longer warrenty stands for better product? What brand of Exterior latex paint are the best for home?
Not really but you are looking at two good paint choices. If you are looking for a paint to last a long time then make sure you prep the area to be painted really well. What brand of Exterior latex paint are the best for home?
Go to your local home depot. The people at the paint desk will be able to recommend a paint that is best for your needs. Make sure you do not try to paint latex over oil - as it will not work....
Go to the library and get the Consumers Report that rated exterior paints and get that one
Let me tell you as a painter of more than 20 years........Though Home Depot may have a good paint,ICI paint is by FAR the BEST PAINT hands down! ICI Paints are much more durable and withstands weather a lot better than any hardware store paints do!

What brand and type of paint brushes should I get?

My girlfriend is a studio art major, and she paints with oil paints a lot, and i want to get her some new brushes for her birthday. Thing is, I know nothing about paint, brushes, or art in general really.. so any help would be appreciated. What brand and type of paint brushes should I get?
well, maybe it would be helpfull to consult with the shop assistent in art supplies store. In any case I recomend you NOT to buy and brush with syntetic bristl...no matter what the shop assistens says. Syntetic bristle cannot soak enough paint in it.

The best brushes for oil paint are sable brushes. The bad news about them is that they are really very expensive, as the cost of sable hair measured in grams is identical to the price of gold. Still, working with this brish is sucha joy that i am sure, your girfreind will be happy to receive even one or two sable brushes as a present.

the form of brushes is individual thing...and here comes the problem...maybe just try to see what kind of brushes she uses? flat, circle, how do they look exatly...there is a veriety of shapes...

maybe getting the flat one might be usefull if you do not know what to bye as they are mostly used for painting.

Also think about the size of her paintings. Bigger paintings require bigger brushes, smaller sizes of painting will ratther require smalles brushed.

good luck. What brand and type of paint brushes should I get?
It really is a personal thing to buy a paint brush! The only way you could do it is to look at the brushes she has and USES and get the same ones (most of us have lots of brushes that we don't really use!). There are thousands and thousands of different kinds of paint brushes, but we all stick with a few that work best for us, usually. But then again, there are specialty brushes that are fun to experiment with, also. It would be a waste of money to just go grab a bunch of different brushe, hoping she will like them, and what is my favorite brush she might not even use or need. I would either give her a gift certificate for the brushes, or take her shopping!

My favorite brand of brushes is Royal and Langnickel. www.royalbrush.com
Rather than get her something she can't use, why not give her a gift certificate to her favorite art supply store. And a really nice dinner out.
I love camel hair brushes or any animal based brush, they hold paint better and the control is superb. They cost more, but are worth the price.

From Wikepedia: These are the styles of brushes used. I hope this helps

Paintbrushes are used for applying ink or paint. These are usually made by clamping the bristles to a handle with a ferrule.

Paintbrushes can have many shapes. Their names and styles may vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, there are certain consistencies. Traditionally, short handled brushes are for watercolor or ink painting while the long handled brushes are for oil or acrylic paint. The styles of brush tip seen most commonly are as follows:

Round: The long closely arranged bristles of these brushes make them useful for detail

Flat: These are used for spreading paint quickly and evenly over a surface. They will have longer hairs than their Bright counterpart.

Bright: These are flat brushes with short stiff bristles and can be useful driving paint into the weave of a canvas in thinner paint applications, as well as thicker painting styles like impasto work.

Filbert: Flat brushes with domed ends. They allow good coverage and the ability to perform some detail work.

Fan: These are used for blending broad areas of paint.

Angle: These, like the Filbert, are versatile and can be applied in both general painting application as well as some detail work.

Mop: A larger format brush with a rounded edge for broad soft paint application as well as for getting thinner glazes over existing drying layers of paint without damaging lower layers.

Rigger: Round brushes with longish hairs, traditionally used for painting the rigging in pictures of ships. They are useful for fine lines and are versatile for both oils and watercolors.

As for a gift certificate .....not very original is it?
Thats sweet that you want to do that but shes right paint brushes are a very personal thing. I personally hate animal hair brushes. I like the nylon ones like golden techlon or wonder white. If you don't know that much about art you should get her a gift certificate just because art supplies are really expensive and she might want to pick out her own. I had an ex buy me some art supplies once and I never used them.
