Color is one factor that can make a big difference in selling a house. But there are other factors too, such as type and brand of paint. Right? Such as latex vs whatever. What type and brand of paint for interior walls to sell a house?
Any mid range latex is fine...no one cares what brand you use to paint your walls..just whether or not they like the colour of them. Eggshell is a great finish or suede is nice too..nothing shiny..it shows every imperfection of your walls, is rather distracting and not warm looking. Oil paint is nicer for trim..outlasts latex hands down. What type and brand of paint for interior walls to sell a house?
I'd always recommend low VOC paints for a home you're going to sell, and go with a flat (matte) paint. Since it reflects less light, it does a better job of camouflaging any imperfections in the walls than glossy paints. From there, I'd look at staying in a neutral shade. Not white necessarily, unless you have the type of house where white works, but you don't want to do crazy colors in a home you're going to sell. I've had really good luck with Benjamin Moore paints.
The brand of paint isn't going to matter. You won't be the one living with it, so don't waste your money on a pricey paint like Ralph Lauren, etc. You just want a fresh coat to give the place a nice, clean appearance ... so any basic brand will be fine.
Finish? I'd go with eggshell. That's just my personal preference ... I HATE flat paint, and consider ... while your house is on the market, people will be coming through, touching EVERYTHING ... including walls. Eggshell is a LOT easier to wipe clean.
Color? Neutral (ish) but definitely NOT white. Actually, taupe (grey-beige) is very current ... warmer than grey, more updated than beige, more interesting than white, off-white, cream, or any of the other (so-called) ';safe'; colors ... but use a light shade of whatever color you choose.
Use latex ... there's rarely a good reason to use any other type of paint ... it's easy to use, easy to clean up ... and (if the future owner doesn't like your paint-job) ... easy to paint over!
A bit of advice? Prime ALL the walls before you paint. Yes, it's an extra step and a bit of added expense, but ... it makes a WORLD of difference in the appearance of the finished job.
Neutral color, flat latex Pro Mar 200 by Sherwin Williams is a good product. I`am a house painter and use this product all the time.
