I have been taking whatever I can get for a long time, but now I have the money to buy better paint. I like acrylics and oils.What is the best brand of paint to use?
Finding a brand of paint that suits you is very much an individual choice.
Most artists use paints from different munufacturers in combination.
The basic recommendation is to use ';artist's'; quality.
Winsor and Newton make ';artist's'; colours (professional) and Winton colours ';for artists'; (student and amateur).
Respected brands include;
Winsor and Newton
Blockx
Michael Harding
Old Holland
and some people rate Holbein paints.
An art store that sells professional equipment should be able to advise you.What is the best brand of paint to use?
There is no specific answer. Every line of every brand has trade-offs. Opaque paint is good for coverage, but not so great for glazing. If you paint thick impasto, expensive paint is a waste of money.
If you are trying to get better paint, then buy cadmium yellow paint, rather than cadmium yellow hue. Most lines of paint have a less expensive mixture that mimics a strong color.
I have experimented with many different brands, but i have found that Galeria is my favorite.
