If so, what is the best brand to use? Does anyone know the difference between ICI paints and their lines versus General Paints vs Ralph Lauren vs Benjamin Moore vs Para Paints? Is there a difference or is the name just a selling prick and it really doesn't matter. I have a 3000 sq foot house to paint and I am wondering if I should go with cheaper brands/lines or the more expensive products. Is there a difference in the quality? its not so much the cost but job the paint is intended for.
most general paints will do an ok job but for a good Professional finish i would advice using brands from the trade such as leyland crown dulux johnstones .
it will not cost as much as the ralph lauren brands that i have found not to be very good for twice the cost(its just a brand name)
use trade and it will last twice as long
go to your local trade paint contractor they will sort you out with everything you will need and advice you if you have any questions.
these places are open to the public but not many people know this.

I am not professional but have painted a lot more than most over the years (constant reno projects). I have found many mid range paints the best..I am in Canada and Beauti Tone from Home Hardware is a great paint..Ralph Lauren is over priced but nice paint..I do not like Benjamin Moore..Para Paint (mid range ) is always a great consistant paint and I have always had great luck with it. Hope this helps you out a bit.
The designer paints eg. Farrow %26amp; Ball, Laura Ashley generally look nice, but are rubbish quality. The best all round brand is Dulux.
